Dr. Masood Amjad Rana has served Ministry of food and agriculture Islamabad and has recently retired as a National Project Director of Special Program for Food Security. Dr. Rana belongs to the eminent group of professionals of the highest caliber and holds a Ph.D degree in Genetics from University of California. During larger part of his career he worked on senior positions for various departments and projects. He also worked as National Coordinator (Oilseed Crops), National Agriculture Research Centre Islamabad and ARI Sariab Quetta. Over the course of years, Dr. Rana has also carried out special assignments with Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations (FAO) on Food Security and Participatory Training Project, Project Director of Crop Maximization Project-I MINFAL Pakistan, Cotton commissioner for Pakistan and has also been the focal person for national and international coordination with the provincial governments of Pakistan. Dr. Rana has also worked with International Donors/Agencies (such as World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank, IFAD, UNDP, FAO), worked as a team member for the development of agriculture strategy and investment programs and provided consultancy for developing proposals, projects, field monitoring missions, implementation of projects, securing funding for different projects/programs. On a national level he has worked with and as a consultant for PARC, MINFA and numerous NGOs.
Dr. Rana is the author of 148 publications that include Scientific papers, technical papers, abstracts, books, popular articles, technical surveys, technical reports, chapter in a book, project preparation, consultancy projects for World Bank and FAO, constitutions of welfare and scientific associations and extension pamphlets. He has also attended countless international conferences, seminars, workshops and meetings in different countries.
