Dr. Muhammad Ashraf is working as Director Technical on Gambella Alwero Rice project. He is PhD from Ph.D in plant physiology from International Rice Research Institute Philippines (IRRI) and Post Doctorate Fellowship from University of Birmingham, UK. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf is among the few agricultural professionals of Pakistan who have life long experience of working as a rice scientist in Rice Research and Development. He has an experience of about 37 years in Rice Research & Development in public & private sector including around 28 years of post doctorate experience. He has held the position of Director General with the Ministry of Food & Agriculture, Government of Pakistan, National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC), Islamabad, Pakistan and the position of National Coordinator (Rice). He has also been associated with private sector for production of Hybrid Rice seed and successfully developed protocol for increasing hybrid seed yield. Recently, Dr. Ashraf worked as a part time consultant with Government of Sudan for launching a rice production & development project and successfully gave a package of production technology and two rice varieties that are very well adopted in the Sudan Project area.
